I’m Sara, a certified professional photographer and contemporary photographic artist based in Salzburg. Raised between the UK and Austria, shaped by two cultures and two languages, I developed an early sensitivity to moods, aesthetics, and the power of the moment. Even as a child, I was fascinated by the moment – fleeting light, a special expression, the quiet poetry in the everyday.

These impressions sparked in me the desire to make the extraordinary visible and to preserve memories through images. With a keen eye for detail and strong powers of observation, I soon turned to photography as my means of expression. Whether in personal projects or commissioned work, I use my camera to tell stories, capture emotions, and make the invisible visible.

After completing my studies in Textile & Design in Salzburg and Vienna, I returned to England, where I worked for several years in marketing, PR, and media – including for the renowned business magazine The Economist in London. Alongside my professional career, I was also active as a freelance photographer and artist – a period during which I learned a great deal and further developed both my style and photographic skills. After eight years in England, I returned to Austria.

With my master certificate in photography (QAP) in hand, I founded SARA BUBNA photography and have since been working as a certified professional photographer. I specialize in commercial photography for corporate clients in architecture, product, business, and food photography - as well as exclusive wedding photography, family portraits, individual portraits, and fine art prints for private customers. At the State Prize of Professional Photographers in Austria in March 2021, I was awarded 1st place for Best Wedding Photo and 2nd place for Best Food Photo.

For the World Photographic Cup 2022 (WPC), one of my images was chosen to represent Austria in the "Wedding" category.

Currently, I am working intensively on two exciting new projects. Photography is a key part of them - but I can’t reveal too much just yet. More details coming soon!

Personal stuff

A few things I love…

I cherish my little family and close circle of friends — and I’m deeply grateful that we can enjoy life again, carefree celebrations included. There's always a reason to celebrate. ;-)

Nature is where I recharge: whether I’m in the garden, swimming in a lake, or hiking in the mountains — as long as I’m moving, I’m happy. I’m a devoted green tea drinker and have an undeniable weakness for good chocolate. Music has always been part of my life - preferably analog. I love putting on old blues, soul, or funk records and letting the sound fill the room. And then there's travel: discovering new places, landscapes, cultures, and people, tasting my way through local cuisine, brings me deep joy and creative inspiration. I’ll admit it: I’m a total symmetry nerd. I love clean lines, thoughtful structure, and I always need something to aim for. Art, modern architecture and interior paired with timeless antiques, that’s where my heart beats the loudest.

It’s a wonderful feeling that I can bring joy to others through my photography and to create lasting memories that can be cherished for a very long time. My work regularly takes me to some of the most beautiful places in Salzburg, across Austria, and throughout Europe. I deeply enjoy when international assignments merges with my wanderlust, taking me to exciting destinations around the world.
